Thanks. Added your review to my Wiki. cheerzzz
Great website you have here. It's a brilliant resource. I'm a reveiewer for CD Times website and here is my review of 'The Campfire Headphase' http://www.cdtimes.co.uk/content.php?contentid=2146 It was actually written a while back but I've only just stumbled across this site.
Hey, cheers for getting these pages back online, really useful archive of info. check my site for some art inspired by boc, or add 'fall' to your soulseek and msg me for some sweet videos and stuff.

Hi, question out of the blue... has anyone here any idea of the equipment line up that BOC use or refer me to a site that does ? The drums, snare, hi-hat etc all have an excellent quality about them, but I just can't place it...
oops......site is: http://www.popgroovy.com/
I was pleased to find out what I had always suspected, that BOC took there name and essentialy part of their ethos from those late 70's National Film Board Of Canada "Canadian Promo" clips on the CBC of various parts of Canada (usually Prince Edward Island or Nova Scotia looking seascapes ---sea birds flying, slow pans etc) the clips were short (2 min) and shot on that bad 'NFL films' quality film (y'know, the day after processing the film, it looks about 20 years old)...anyway, those little clips always struck me as very melancholic, and made me quite sad, now that I think back on them. The music in them was usually a minimal, lilting moog / prophet warbled synth and this , of course is very BOC-ish...I wish I could find the audio from these clips somewhere...if anybody has any leads, please feel free to email me or contact my record label...THANKS.
This website is interesting, it's a whole novel set in Japan inspired by Boards of Canada! See chp 14 in particular, about BoC and cults.

Oh, also I believe that the link you want in the comments section on "Over The Horizon Radar" is this : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dawn_chorus_%28electromagnetic%29

Which talks about the electromagnetic phenomenon you mentioned :)
Hey there Fredd-E, it's kem1kal from the Twoism board, anyways I've been a fan of this site since it belonged to DavidAC, so first off, thanks for keeping up (and even improving) what I think is the best database of information on BoC there is! Good times!

I also have a few comments to make :)

First off, unless anyone has any other ideas, I highly doubt that the "lyrics" for Diving Station are correct, I have sped up the track to the specified length, even reversed it, and while I agree that there is a chance it could be speech, it is not "we hate you all, we hate you all (laughter)". I'm pretty certain of this, but I have an open mind so if Pete or anyone else for that matter could supply me with an audio file showing me, that would be appreciated.

Don't know if you count live tracks (in your lyrics section), but on the forum, I pointed out that in the dark track (ATP Track 7, 8:26 long)there appears to be a recurring sample towards the end (when it gets darker) that has someone saying "(I) See the rainbow...". Not sure why but I've always thought that was a weird sample to put in such a dark track, the manner in which it is said is kind of stressed sounding too. Still working on figuring out that INSANELY vocoded sample (it was probably clearer if you were there, the poor quality does not help). I think I may be onto something though...

Lighthouse track 3 (another AMAZING rare BoC track, the melody is pure fuckin bliss!) has some chopped up female speech (unsettling again) in the foreground, and if you listen in the background, there is speech chopped to ANOTHER pattern (0:40-1:55 (roughly)) layered under her voice. Working on what they're saying, but it's really hard with the clutter of the people chatting in front of the damn mic.

I've lost my copy of the warp10 show, but when I retrieve it, I will post my findings of the last 2 tracks (2:55, 11:27 are the respective lengths) as they both have lyrics, the first has some reversed singing, something about the sunshine as I recall, and the second has some heavily vocoded voices that I haven't been able to figure out.

I agree with Sar on all of the Telephasic Workshop lyrics, 100%... they are recurring patterns and you can hear them throughout (but the right and left channels have different voices, right channel seems to cycle between much more speech.

Beware the Friendly Stranger - Lyrics sound sort of like chanting if you reverse and slow as was suggested by... not sure who. (boardsofdublin?)

Anyways this is all I have for now, but keep in touch! Love the site :)
Halo everyone, is there someone reading this that has 'Old Tunes Vol.1' on Soulseek? If so, can you mail me your user name? I would be really grateful, i've been trying to get this for so long now, i'm becoming obsessed.
Ta.
Does anyone know where I can download -- Maxima - few old tunes ...
any of the old un-released stuff --- have got the rest.
would be super grateful
It sounds more like 'borders on canada'... we've talked about this before on this guestbook...
hey fredd, just thought you would like to know that there is two spokin parts in "telephasic workshop" saying Boards of Ca-na-da, Boards of Can-a-da.
kinda hard to hear on the cd but
you cant miss it on the vinyl, its very clear.
didnt know if you had it up there or not.
sorry, just found them on your links page.

sorry for these two pointless posts x
does anyone know of any BoC forums?

bought campfire headphase today and am really loving it.

got the other two albums a while back
TCH is an amazing album (only listened to it once), it's their warmest record i must say + pure nostalgia!! Oh yes there's also a small review in 'knack focus' (belgian) magazine, i'll translate it asap! The album got 3 stars from the reviewer. SC

If you please.

Yes warpmart pre-order only. If I'm correct.
Hey Fredd
tried for the new release yesterday but i was a day early. I guess the 17th is the Euro release. Ive only listened to the first few and really enjoyed it.
My question is that the edition i purchased was only the album, no insert included. Was the poster/bio you have reffered to for early orders only?
thanks
There's a short interview with the Boards in HUMO (a popular Belgian newspaper)!
Maybe I'll try to translate it later... or someone else :)
oh i only hope 'the campfire headphase' is out today!!!

hmm nice suggestion... http://www.m-w.com/cgi-bin/dictionary?va=holt

yeah me too, to be honest. you should read some of the new interviews; they're pretty 'upset' about people thinking too much about the subliminal messages because they only did it for fun and those hidden messages are not to be meant serious by any means... that's a bit sad indeed.
I'm a little dissapointed that boc regard their subliminal messages as joking around, to me it makes things a bit of a waste as there is so much potential for thought if used properly. I guess all the confusion surrounding it is why they dropped its use in Campfire Headphase.

In future I hope boc concentrate on samples that form a narrative throughout an album, a sort of fragmented story book.
Hey, wouldn't it make more sense, for the "An Eagle In Your Mind" lyrics, if it was 'colts' (young horses) and not 'holts'? What exactly is a holt anyway? :)
well, I now have hi scores (the OTV2 version), I just need 'I love u', so, please, anyone, help me out. Also, does anyone know that there was a compilation of 33 tracks with 'Forest Moon', and Blockbusters (i.e. Old Tunes tracks) that were put together prior to the release of Geogaddi, it was called 'A Few Old Tunes Volume 2' and it was going to be released by Warp, but it never saw the light of day. I used to have this album, (I still have the tracks, just not in the same order), and when I burned it on to a cd it's total file size was just under 700mb, which maybe validates what I said earlier about it being an album that was scheduled for general release.
